Unified Combat Principles and Practice Curriculum

Complete engagement awareness, fluid adaptation and timing based actions

UNION MARTIAL ART ASSOCIATION

Our combat training curriculum is organized according to different fundamental skill sets, primarily divided into two areas: mobile attack and defense at range, and close-range bridging techniques including striking, control, and takedowns.

Foundation Course I – Pre-Impact Strategy

Train to attack, defend, and move with purpose — before contact is made

🗡️ Offense

  • Forward bridging and sinking hands for counter transitions (穿沉桥变招)

  • Flow into adaptive attacking variations from contact

Tactile Training

  • Sticky hands (沾手) drills to develop pressure sensitivity and intention tracking

  • Application of tactile reading to redirection and follow-up

🛡️ Defense

  • Angled body circling & stepping (偏身走圈变化)

  • Hand and body wrapping techniques (缠手 / 缠身)

Traditional Tactical Martial Arts

Our tactical training is grounded in the striking and grappling methods of traditional Chinese martial arts, organized through the lens of ancient Chinese military theory. Core concepts such as comprehensive preparation (庙算胜), complete response awareness (正合奇胜), and timing of action (因势利导) guide how we structure offense, defense, and strategy.

🧘 Inspired by Ancient Chinese Military Strategy

  • All-around preparation before combat (庙算胜)

  • Reactive strategy: matching force with force, winning through unpredictability (正合奇胜)

  • Acting at the right moment with the right force (因势利导)

⚔️ Tactical Concepts Derived from Chinese Martial Arts

  • Extracted core techniques from multiple traditional martial arts philosophies.

  • Structured for clarity and direct application in modern practice

🗂️ Course Structure & Access

Divided by technical foundation:

  • Long & Mid-Range Strategy — striking and defense from pre-impact range

  • Close-Range Grappling Strategy — contact-based control and takedown

  • Supported by a unified training methods

  • Offers short-term clarity and long-term depth

  • Helps students identify a preferred path for deeper study

✋ Theory Made Real Through Practice

  • Embodied understanding of martial theory
Every principle is introduced through structured movement, not abstract explanation.

  • Drills that express structure, timing, and intent
Students feel the logic of combat — through partner flow, resistance, and control.

  • Movement as meaning
Forms and techniques are not choreography — they’re functional, living expressions of martial insight.
